Nada existia entre as pequenas (Fiat Strada, VW Saveiro) e as m\u00e9dias com chassi (Chevrolet S10, Toyota Hilux, etc.) at\u00e9 setembro de 2015, quando a Renault inovou com a Duster Oroch. Como as menores, ela tinha plataforma de autom\u00f3vel e dimens\u00f5es coerentes com o uso nas grandes cidades; como as maiores, oferecia quatro portas convencionais em uma cabine espa\u00e7osa.<\/p>\n<p>O reinado da Oroch, por\u00e9m, foi breve. Em fevereiro seguinte a Fiat respondia com a Toro, maior, com desenho moderno e dotada de transmiss\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica desde a vers\u00e3o de entrada com motor flex\u00edvel. Nada disso: em novembro passado a Fiat lan\u00e7ava o motor Tigershark de 2,4 litros para a Toro, mais potente que o da advers\u00e1ria, associado a uma caixa autom\u00e1tica de nove marchas. Foram tantas novidades consecutivas que o comprador pode estar com uma grande indecis\u00e3o. Em <em>porte,<\/em> a Toro mede 22 cent\u00edmetros a mais em comprimento e 16 cm a mais em dist\u00e2ncia entre eixos que a Oroch: apesar das diferen\u00e7as consider\u00e1veis, ainda s\u00e3o as \u00fanicas op\u00e7\u00f5es intermedi\u00e1rias do mercado entre as pequenas e as m\u00e9dias tradicionais.<\/p>\n<p>Com <em>pot\u00eancia<\/em> de 143 cv com gasolina e 148 com \u00e1lcool, o motor de 2,0 litros da Renault fica pouco acima do 1,75 da Fiat (135\/139 cv), mas bem aqu\u00e9m do 2,4 (174\/186 cv).\u00a0Enfim, em <em>pre\u00e7o<\/em> a grande rivalidade \u00e9 mesmo entre a Oroch Dynamique (R$ 80,6 mil com caixa autom\u00e1tica e R$ 85,8 mil como avaliada) e a Toro Freedom 1,75 (que parte de R$ 84,6 mil com tal transmiss\u00e3o e custava R$ 88,6 mil com os opcionais da nossa). Em an\u00e1lise mais ampla e com carroceria sobre chassi, at\u00e9 a picape Willys que foi fabricada aqui (mais tarde como Ford F-75) com base na perua <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autolivraria.com.br\/classicos\/rural-1.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Rural<\/a>\u00a0poderia ser citada. Mas, a seu tempo e no Brasil, a ideia da Oroch foi realmente diferente.<\/p>\n<p>Desenvolvida aqui, a picape deriva do <a href=\"https:\/\/autolivraria.com.br\/bc\/tag\/duster\" target=\"_blank\">Duster<\/a> lan\u00e7ado em 2010 na Europa pela Dacia, subsidi\u00e1ria romena de carros de baixo custo do grupo. Mesmo com para-lamas bojudos e imponentes, suas linhas perdem apelo diante das formas arrojadas da picape Fiat, que sobressai com a frente de luzes em dois n\u00edveis, com charmosos leds na parte superior, e o perfil longil\u00edneo da carroceria. Nenhum dos fabricantes informa o <a href=\"https:\/\/autolivraria.com.br\/bc\/glossario-c\/#cx\" target=\"_blank\">coeficiente aerodin\u00e2mico (Cx)<\/a>, mas seria de se esperar melhor resultado na Toro pelo perfil suave e elementos como o para-brisa mais inclinado.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Pouco mais antiga, a Oroch envelhece ao lado da Toro: as formas arrojadas da picape Fiat sobressaem com a frente de luzes em dois n\u00edveis e o perfil longil\u00edneo<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"cc\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Conforto e conveni\u00eancia<\/h2>\n<p>O ambiente interno da Toro \u00e9 superior em aspecto e desenho, mas os pl\u00e1sticos s\u00e3o r\u00edgidos e simples como os da Oroch. A vers\u00e3o 1,75 tinha bancos revestidos em tecido espartano e volante de pl\u00e1stico, enquanto a 2,4 e a concorrente vieram com couro de bom padr\u00e3o em ambos os itens. O motorista das Fiats ainda disp\u00f5e de banco mais confort\u00e1vel e com maior apoio para coxas (embora devesse ter mais apoio lombar ou sua regulagem), volante ajust\u00e1vel tamb\u00e9m em dist\u00e2ncia (na Renault, s\u00f3 em altura) e melhor apoio para o p\u00e9 esquerdo.<\/p>\n<p>Nos quadros de instrumentos, de f\u00e1cil leitura, o das Toros traz informa\u00e7\u00f5es adicionais: veloc\u00edmetro digital, tens\u00e3o da bateria, horas de funcionamento do motor e temperaturas do l\u00edquido de arrefecimento, do \u00f3leo lubrificante e da transmiss\u00e3o. A 2,4 mostra ainda press\u00e3o dos pneus, medida por um sistema preciso que reconhece varia\u00e7\u00f5es antes mesmo de rodar (n\u00e3o \u00e9 baseado, portanto, nos sensores de rota\u00e7\u00e3o dos freios antitravamento). grupo n\u00e3o apenas em cilindrada, mas tamb\u00e9m em refinamento t\u00e9cnico (<em>leia quadro na pr\u00f3xima p\u00e1gina<\/em>). Os resultados s\u00e3o pot\u00eancia e torque bem superiores: 174 cv\/23,5 m.kgf com gasolina e 186 cv\/24,9 m.kgf com \u00e1lcool, ante 143 cv\/20,2 m.kgf e 148 cv\/20,9 m.kgf da Oroch e 135 cv\/18,8 m.kgf e 139 cv\/19,3 m.kgf da Toro 1,75, na mesma ordem de combust\u00edveis.<\/p>\n<p>Favorece tamb\u00e9m a Toro a transmiss\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica de seis (1,75) ou nove marchas (2,4), ante apenas quatro na caixa da Oroch. Por outro lado, a picape Renault pesa muito menos (1.375 kg contra 1.619 kg da Fiat menos potente e 1.704 kg da mais vigorosa), o que lhe garante rela\u00e7\u00e3o peso-pot\u00eancia similar \u00e0 da concorrente de 2,4 litros.<\/p>\n<p>Tudo considerado, a sensa\u00e7\u00e3o ao dirigir varia de empolgante na Toro 2,4 a decepcionante na 1,75, com a Oroch em ponto intermedi\u00e1rio. funciona macio apesar da m\u00e1 rela\u00e7\u00e3o r\/l\n<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div><div class='clear'><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Com a outra Toro a situa\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 oposta: o motor E-Torq precisa de mais de 3.000 rpm para fornecer desempenho razo\u00e1vel e deixa a sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de carro lento todo o tempo. Ao menos a Fiat investiu bem em isolamento ac\u00fastico de modo a conter seu ru\u00eddo nessas condi\u00e7\u00f5es. Como agravante, ambas as vers\u00f5es usam acelerador algo pesado e mal definido, que requer posi\u00e7\u00e3o antinatural do p\u00e9 para ser mais pressionado: \u00e9 poss\u00edvel que alguns motoristas acabem usando menos pot\u00eancia do que poderiam.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Em termos de desempenho, a sensa\u00e7\u00e3o ao dirigir varia de empolgante na Toro 2,4-litros a decepcionante na vers\u00e3o 1,75, com a Oroch em ponto intermedi\u00e1rio<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A Oroch, embora adequada na rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre peso, pot\u00eancia e torque, sofre com a caixa autom\u00e1tica limitada (mais sobre ela adiante) e fica bem atr\u00e1s em isolamento de ru\u00eddos e vibra\u00e7\u00f5es, o que evidencia o pouco refinamento do projeto. Ela oferece o comando Eco para deixar mais lento o acelerador, o oposto da Toro 2,4, cujo bot\u00e3o Sport torna sua resposta mais r\u00e1pida e o volante mais firme. Este recurso deveria ser estendido \u00e0 menos potente.<\/p>\n<p>Todas as sensa\u00e7\u00f5es foram confirmadas pelas medi\u00e7\u00f5es em pista, que apontaram acelera\u00e7\u00e3o de 0 a 100 km\/h em 11,5 segundos para a Fiat mais vigorosa, 13 s para a Renault e longos 15,2 s para a Fiat mais modesta. A retomada de 60 a 100 km\/h, na mesma ordem, foi feita em 7,6, 10,3 e 10,8 segundos. Se a quarta (3.000 rpm) n\u00e3o conseguir vencer o aclive, a caixa precisa vir direto para terceira (4.150 rpm) e os passageiros passam a gritar para manter a conversa.<\/p>\n<p>As caixas usadas pela Fiat s\u00e3o bem superiores tamb\u00e9m em suavidade de funcionamento. Mudan\u00e7as manuais podem ser feitas em qualquer uma delas, mas s\u00f3 a Toro 2,4 traz comandos no volante; as outras recorrem ao canal lateral da alavanca (a Renault adota redu\u00e7\u00f5es para tr\u00e1s, e a Fiat, para frente). <em>veja na pr\u00f3xima p\u00e1gina<\/em>) de forma a obter bom compromisso entre conforto ao rodar, estabilidade e capacidade de carga. De fato os dois modelos satisfazem nesse equil\u00edbrio, mas a Toro \u00e9 superior em absor\u00e7\u00e3o de impactos e irregularidades. Pode-se afirmar que no mercado nacional, deste segmento para cima, ela \u00e9 a picape que mais se aproxima do rodar de um bom autom\u00f3vel.<\/p>\n<p>Embora as duas vers\u00f5es da Fiat tenham a mesma calibra\u00e7\u00e3o de suspens\u00e3o \u2014 varia apenas na turbodiesel, pela maior capacidade de carga \u2014, o comportamento din\u00e2mico \u00e9 melhor na vers\u00e3o 2,4 por conta dos pneus Continental mais largos, ante Nexen (marca sul-coreana quase desconhecida aqui, embora forne\u00e7a para a Kia) da 1,75, ambos com desenho para asfalto. N\u00e3o menos grave \u00e9 o tempo de quase 7 s para seguir acelerando de 100 a 120 km\/h, apesar de contar com seis marchas, que permitem ao motor manter certa rota\u00e7\u00e3o ap\u00f3s as trocas. Portanto, cuidado extra com ela ao calcular uma ultrapassagem.<\/p>\n<p>A Toro 2,4, por outro lado, mostrou o bom desempenho esperado: 0 a 100 em 11,5 segundos, 60 a 120 em 14,4 s. \u00c9 importante lembrar que as tr\u00eas foram medidas com gasolina (nosso objetivo, embora nem sempre poss\u00edvel), mas que seu motor tem a maior diferen\u00e7a de pot\u00eancia e torque em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao uso de \u00e1lcool. Assim, se testadas com o combust\u00edvel vegetal, a mais potente das Fiats tenderia a acentuar sua vantagem sobre as demais.<\/p>\n<p>No meio-termo ficou a Oroch, com 13 s no 0-100 e 15,6 s no 60-120. Com rela\u00e7\u00e3o peso-pot\u00eancia similar \u00e0 da Toro 2,4, ela evidencia os preju\u00edzos trazidos pela ineficiente caixa de quatro marchas e seus grandes intervalos entre rela\u00e7\u00f5es: a cada mudan\u00e7a, o motor perde muitos giros e demora a retomar o \u00edmpeto.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9 simples arrancar forte com qualquer uma delas: acelera-se tudo, aplicando ou n\u00e3o o pedal de freio enquanto isso, e elas saem sem patinar pneus em asfalto seco. Permitem maior rota\u00e7\u00e3o de <a href=\"https:\/\/autolivraria.com.br\/bc\/glossario-e\/#esto\" target=\"_blank\">estol<\/a> as caixas da Toro 1,75 (2.700 rpm) e da Oroch (2.600) que a da Toro 2,4 (2.200): \u00e9 prov\u00e1vel a Fiat ter aumentado essa rota\u00e7\u00e3o para melhor capacidade de sa\u00edda, como em rampas com picape carregada. A mudan\u00e7a autom\u00e1tica de marcha vem em torno de 6.000 rpm na Toro mais fraca e 6.300 na mais potente e na Oroch.<\/p>\n<p>De certo modo, foi surpreendente o equil\u00edbrio entre as marcas de consumo das tr\u00eas: a Toro 1,75 venceu nos tr\u00eas trajetos por margens entre 0,3 e 0,8 km\/l. Os resultados levam a\u00a0tr\u00eas constata\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>Primeira, que nem sempre maior cilindrada implica grande aumento de consumo: nesse caso, a eficiente caixa de nove marchas manteve o motor 2,4 em baixas rota\u00e7\u00f5es sempre que poss\u00edvel. Segunda, que rela\u00e7\u00e3o peso-pot\u00eancia ruim tamb\u00e9m sacrifica a economia, pois se esperava maior vantagem da Toro 1,75 sobre a vers\u00e3o mais potente. Ambos usam bloco de ferro fundido e <a href=\"https:\/\/autolivraria.com.br\/bc\/glossario-v\/#vari\" target=\"_blank\">varia\u00e7\u00e3o de tempo de abertura de v\u00e1lvulas<\/a> (s\u00f3 de admiss\u00e3o no Renault, para todas no Fiat, pois a \u00e1rvore de comando \u00e9 uma s\u00f3). Comparado \u00e0 vers\u00e3o lan\u00e7ada em 2015 no Renegade, o da Toro ganhou <a href=\"https:\/\/autolivraria.com.br\/bc\/glossario-c\/#cole\" target=\"_blank\">coletor de admiss\u00e3o com geometria vari\u00e1vel<\/a>, estendido mais tarde ao Jeep.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Mais sofisticado \u00e9 o Tigershark 2,4, um motor Chrysler da d\u00e9cada passada (evoluiu daquele que tivemos no Fiat Freemont e no PT Cruiser) que recebeu cabe\u00e7ote Multiair na atual gest\u00e3o da FCA. O sistema eletro-hidr\u00e1ulico usa a varia\u00e7\u00e3o de tempo de abertura e de levantamento das v\u00e1lvulas de admiss\u00e3o para controlar a entrada de mistura ar-combust\u00edvel aos cilindros. Al\u00e9m disso, tem bloco de alum\u00ednio, <a href=\"https:\/\/autolivraria.com.br\/bc\/glossario-p\/#para\" target=\"_blank\">parada\/partida autom\u00e1tica<\/a>\u00a0(com bot\u00e3o para desativar)\u00a0e preaquecimento de \u00e1lcool para partida a frio.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ambos os motores Fiat usam corrente para sincronia entre comandos de v\u00e1lvulas (duas \u00e1rvores no 2,4, uma s\u00f3 no 1,75) e virabrequim, solu\u00e7\u00e3o mais robusta e de menor manuten\u00e7\u00e3o que a correia dentada da unidade Renault. No E-Torq \u00e9 0,316 e no motor Renault pouco pior, 0,323.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Usar mais marchas em uma caixa autom\u00e1tica traz dois benef\u00edcios. Um \u00e9 o espectro mais amplo, calculado ao se dividir a rela\u00e7\u00e3o da primeira pela da \u00faltima: 9,8 na Toro de nove marchas ante 6,7 da vers\u00e3o de seis marchas e apenas 3,8 da Oroch. Assim, o fabricante pode obter ao mesmo tempo maior capacidade de sa\u00edda em rampa (em primeira) e menor rota\u00e7\u00e3o em viagem (na \u00faltima), o que favorece a economia. Como\u00a0se constata pelas velocidades por 1.000 rpm (<em>veja na ficha t\u00e9cnica<\/em>), a primeira da Renault \u00e9 similar \u00e0 segunda da Fiat 2,4, enquanto as tr\u00eas \u00faltimas marchas desta s\u00e3o mais longas que a quarta da rival.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A outra vantagem \u00e9 o menor intervalo entre as rela\u00e7\u00f5es, tamb\u00e9m notado nas velocidades por 1.000 rpm: a\u00a0opera\u00e7\u00e3o torna-se mais suave, usa-se menos o conversor de torque (cuja opera\u00e7\u00e3o consome energia), mant\u00e9m-se o motor em baixa rota\u00e7\u00e3o por mais tempo e redu\u00e7\u00f5es n\u00e3o elevam muito os giros sem necessidade. Benef\u00edcios que se nota claramente ao dirigir uma das Toros em compara\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 Oroch.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Embora a Renault tenha anunciado que sua suspens\u00e3o traseira \u00e9 multibra\u00e7o (<em>multilink<\/em> em ingl\u00eas), n\u00e3o \u00e9 o caso: a falta de bra\u00e7o superior caracteriza-a como McPherson, ao contr\u00e1rio da Toro, que usa uma multibra\u00e7o leg\u00edtima.
